Thank you for looking at this page.
We realize that providing an opportunity for your child to be away from you can be quite concerning from multiple perspectives.
For some parents, it may be the first time your child has been away from you. For others the concerns may be about their safety, and the capability of those involved.
We have made this page specifically to try to cater for the questions or concerns you may have. Please post on this page if you have any other questions or email us on RYPEN9520@gmail.com
RYPEN is a weekend camp supported by the Rotary Clubs in District 9520 .
It is one of Rotary’s most successful youth programmes where selected 14-17 year olds across different secondary schools in South Australia, gather in a safe and supportive environment.
The aim of RYPEN is to provide young people with the opportunity to develop their potential and self-esteem, provide experiences that will assist them to form their own values and moral standards, and to broaden their cultural, social and academic horizons.
RYPEN encourages students to explore their ideas of problem solving in team and group activities and build confidence and develop skills to cope in a wide range of situations.
Rotary has a defined Youth Protection Policy, available here.
Our Administrators (Program Leaders), are Rotarians who have experience with running youth camps.
Our Lead Director, and Directors (small group leaders), have been previous participants in Rotary’s Youth Leadership Award (RYLA), and many have been small group leaders at RYPEN or RYLA previously.
We have camp parents, who make sure your child has anything they need from the shops, talking to them if they have concerns etc.
All of those above have received successful DCSI Working with Children Checks, have completed Referee checks (including their current employer), and participate in a day long selection day, in addition to a rigorous interview.
