Youth Protection

Rotary has many wonderful programs designed to assist our youth, many of whom are destined to become future community leaders and some to fill important positions in Australia and overseas.
Rotary International has put in place systems and rules to protect and guide these young people. Many Rotary programs involve youth where participation is for a relatively short period of time and entirely within Australia such as RYPEN.
Rotary in all Australian Districts is committed to creating and maintaining the safest possible environment for all participants in Rotary youth activities.
It is the duty of all Rotarians, Rotarians’ spouses, partners and others involved in Rotary’s youth programs as leaders to safeguard to the best of their ability the welfare of and to prevent the physical, sexual and emotional abuse of children, young people and the aged and infirm with whom they come into contact.
RI Policy prohibits any person who has admitted to, been convicted of or otherwise been found to have engaged in abuse or harassment from working with youth in a Rotary context.

All leaders are aware of their Mandatory Reporting obligations.
Rotary takes Youth Protection very seriously, and if you have any questions, we encourage you to call the RYPEN Administrator for the relevant program, the District Chair, John Sandham on 0412 440 843 or the District Youth Protection officer, David Binks on 0438 221 937.
